5 non-alcoholic sparkling wines by Carl Jung

Tried ´n Tested: 5 non-alcoholic Bubblies

Today a friend and I tested 5 non-alcoholic sparkling wines, all from Carl Jung! Since this company has been making non-alcoholic wines since 1908 my hopes were high for these so here we go…

JUST A NOTE

All these wines have been de-alcoholised. More than 100 years ago Carl Jung Jnr developed a process for de-alcoholization in his family winery at Boosenburg Castle in Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany. His idea was to extract alcohol at room temperature, with the help of a vacuum technique. Wine aromas were collected separately from the alcohol and reintroduced to the non-alcoholic wine. In de-alcoholised wines the alcohol has been reduced to 0.5% ABV, compared with the more usual 12-13% / So these 5 wines all have a max of 0,5% ABV – beware if you are strict on drinking only alcohol free drinks.

* Non-alcoholic * ➡️ The term * non-alcoholic * may be used on malt beverages, provided it contains less than 0.5% ‘alcohol by volume’
* Alcohol free * ➡️ The term *alcohol free * may be used only on malt beverages containing no alcohol

REVIEW OF THE WINES

Carl Jung Peach:
Beautiful pale straw colour. Lively and refreshing. Lots of long lasting bubbles. Smells and tastes peachy (as one could guess haha) and is a nice kind of sweet. Has a pleasant light aftertaste. Delicious summer drink (would also work well as a spritzer).

Carl Jung Mousseux:
Smells like cava, like alcohol. These 5 wines all kind of do, must have something to do with the de-alcoholization process. Very light in colour. Has delicate bubbles that kind of fade a little bit. Doesn’t have much of an aftertaste (which I like), drinks away easily as its light & fresh. Semi-Dry.

Carl Jung Bio Mousseux:
Has the same nice, light colour as the one above. Completely different taste though, this one is a little tart and drier. The bubbles are active and long lasting. For me this is the BEST NON-ALCOHOLIC SPARKLING WINE I have ever tried, this is totally my new favourite…!

Carl Jung Blanc de Blancs:
A sparkling and fresh wine from the Chardonnay grape. Semi-Dry. Nice, active bubbles. Has an aromatic scent and a bit of an oaky undertone we found. A good option!

Carl Jung Rosé:
Smells like strawberries (and a tiny bit of raspberry). Good, active bubbles. I found it quite sweet yet refreshing. Lovely as an aperitif.

All of these non-alcoholic sparkling wines have max 26 calories per 100ml which is a nice little extra. Prices vary from €5.79 up to €7.49 so reasonable priced as well! If you´re interested in purchasing (any of) these wines leave a comment and I will hook you up!
