Cocktail Time

Must-haves to make delicious (non-alcoholic) cocktails!

Today I would like to talk about an important aspect of making delicious non-alcoholic cocktails at home. Nothing more fun than experimenting with different ingredients to make cool cocktails right? But what do you actually need to make these, besides the ingredients? In this article, I will give you a few pointers and provide you with a list of essential items…!

Cocktail Set

To start with: A cocktail setā€¦ No good cocktail has ever been made without at least a cocktail shaker. I personally bought a little [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_COCKTAILSET”] on amazon. It is priced really well and is super versatile!! It contains a cocktail shaker, jigger, spoon, strainer, cork screwer, ice tongs, muddler & 4 pourers. So far I have used the shaker for almost every cocktail I made, as well as the jigger, spoon, the muddler and strainer. It all comes in a nice wooden frame so it also looks great on display! I have put mine on my bar cart which looks pretty cool I think ā¤µļø

Cocktail Glasses

On to the glassesā€¦! There are many different types of cocktails glasses. Below I will discuss the 5 most important ones:

1. High-ball or Collins Glass or Sling 8-12 oz / 10-14 oz (240/400ml)
2. Martini or Cocktail Glass (interchangeable with a Coupe Glass) 6-12 oz (180-350ml)
3. Low-ball or Rocks Glass or Old fashioned 6-10 oz (180-300ml)
4. Shot Glass 1-1.5 oz (30-45ml)
5. Flute (interchangeable with a Coupe Glass) 6-10 oz (180-300ml)

High-Ball or Collins Glass

First of all the [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_HIGHBALLLSA”] (interchangeably with a Collins glass or a Sling – these have a higher and narrower shape). This is a tall, Ā“tumblerĀ“-like glass which is used for mainly mixed drinks and large cocktails with ice.
Think G&T, Bloody Mary & My non-alcoholic suggestion: CaleƱo+Tonic

Martini or Cocktail Glass

Next on the list is the [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_COCKTAILLSA”] (interchangeable with a Coupe glass). One of my faves! This type of cocktail glass is good for chilled cocktails without actual ice cubes – Or served Ā“upĀ“ as one says.
Think Martini, Cosmopolitan & My non-alcoholic suggestion: Winter Blush

Low-Ball, Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass

The third one on the list is the [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_LOWBALLLSA”], also known as the Rocks glass or Old-fashioned glass. This is a short tumbler with a solid base. Ideal for anything neat or any spirit on the rocks.
Think Old Fashioned, White Russian & My non-alcoholic suggestion: Dark Ā“NĀ“ Sobery

Shot Glass

The fourth cocktail glass is a [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_SHOTGLASSLSA”]ā€¦! The shot glass can be used for everything, from straight liquor to something more complicated (think B-52Ā“s…) and is made of thicker glass. This because obvs itĀ“s party glass no. 1 so it needs to be sturdy for all those toasts – Cheers!

Champagne Flute

Then last but def not least, my all-time favourite –> [MBP_AA_LINK “MBP_AA_LINK_FLUTELSA”]! My drink of choice is bubbles… Preferably pink bubbles – So festive! Champagne cocktails are a great choice for almost any occasion, so whether you are organising a girls night in, a big dinner party or just a fun night at home with friends, a set of fluted Champagne glasses is a must. Because these glasses have a thin body they keep the bubbles longer; they also keep the drink colder as you hold the glass by the stem, not by the glass itself so your hands aren’t warming the drink.
Think Kir Royale, Mimosa & My non-alcoholic suggestion: Frozen Lemon
