Tonight I tried KEVER GENEVER 0%…! A Dutch non-alcoholic spirit made in Amsterdam XXX …!
It has a very cool bottle design! It’s in an olive oil like tin and has a bright blue colored label on it. When you open it a plastic thingy pops up from where the genever pours out. Which isn´t 100% spill proof apparently as both my husband and I spilled a little bit while pouring. But this could also be down to our clumsiness haha This is a (obvs) genever-inspired non-alcoholic drink, distilled by a group of friends in Amsterdam. They claim to bring you the Amsterdam Spirit ⚡️
On to the tasting… First I tried it undiluted: I find it hard to describe… there’s a tiny hint of soap in there (or not quite soap but I cannot come up with anything that would describe it better) and there’s a bit of a kick at the end. All in all not bad. But as with most non-alcoholic spirits it´s also a bit blend, no mouths on fire here.
Then I tried it mixed with Pink Tonic ➡️ I found the Kever to take the bitter away from the tonic and it turned it into its entirely own flavour – Really nice!!
Last but not least I mixed it with Nordic (normal) Tonic ➡️ This came out super fresh and with a bit more of a bitter to it. Like a G&T but with its own original flavour. I like it.
Verdict —> I lóve the original packaging and it has a nice, original taste to it. As with most non-alcoholic spirits it needs quite a big amount to taste and enjoy the flavour to the fullest, say 55% tonic – 45% Kever. And then the bottle runs out quite quick… Bút I do like this and its also super nice to give (and to gét!) as a present to anyone who enjoys sobriety or takes some time of alcohol for whatever reason!
