Time for a brand new Bubblypoptail in Marbs! (Aka a non-alcoholic cocktail)
The main ingredients for todays cocktail – Virgin Watermelon Margarita – are fresh watermelon and a non-alcoholic Tequila, called Mockingbird. Find the full list of ingredients here:
INGREDIENTS (for 1 drink)
1/2 a watermelon
1 lime
100ml of Mockingbird
Sprig of mint
A squeeze of Agave syrup
Ice
So, here we go… the Virgin Watermelon Margarita!
RECIPE
1. Take a fresh watermelon and cut some thick slices
2. Cut a lime in half
3. Heat up the bbq
4. Place the slices of watermelon on the grill and the limes slice too (side down)
5. Grill until the watermelon has dark grill marks and then flip them over; at this time, you also take the limes off and set them aside
6. Grill the other side of the watermelon and set them aside to cool down
7. Cut the flesh off the watermelon and put it into a shaker with the juice of the lime and a sprig of mint
8. Muddle until it is into a pulp, add a squeeze of Agave syrup, 100ml of Mockingbird and muddle again
9. Add ice, shake and strain over a glass of ice and …
Njoy!
TIP: If you like frozen Margaritas, then strain into a blender with ice and blend until smooth.
Why using the BBQ you ask? The grilling brings out the juice in the limes and gives a smoky flavour to the watermelon. It also makes it sweeter as it caramelises the sugar in the fruit. But mostly I used the BBQ just because it is cool and something different haha
MOCKINGBIRD
What is Mockingbird? Mockingbird is a premium, alcohol-free Tequila alternative, featuring Ashwagandha and Mexican Blue Weber Agave. In their words: “it is embodying the spirit of the Mockingbird, humbly mimicking the traditional taste of Tequila, allowing you to have all the margaritas with none of the migraines. 0% Alcohol with 100% Blue Agave.”
I am a big fan of Mockingbird! It is great to make cocktails with or simply combine with your favourite mixer. You can buy Mockingbird directly HERE.
