Homemade alcohol-free Limoncello

Make your own delicious alcohol-free Limoncello – In 3 simple steps!

I will start this alcohol-free Limoncello recipe with a bit of a background… Last month I was on a weeks holiday with a group of friends, consisting of three families. Together we always rent a big house and have 7 days of mayhem. This year we all had a super fun time, as usual, and being the only non-drinker in the group didn´t bother me at all. I´m used to it by now and the fact that all these friends are very supportive of my decision to not drink anymore makes it a lot easier too.

As a bit of a given every year one of my friends brings a bottle of homemade Limoncello with her. And this year she didn´t only bring her usual version but… she made an alcohol-free Limoncello especially for me! How sweet is that… And it was delicious, so I asked her for the recipe to share it here with you all!

Here we go…

⚡️ Warning! It only takes like 15 minutes to make BUT two weeks until it’s ready to drink, as it needs lots of steeping…⚡️

INGREDIENTS (this makes about 1,5 litre)

  • 5 lemons
  • 1L of alcohol-free vodka (my friend used ‘Strykk not Vodka’ from STRYKK)
  • 300g sugar
  • 300ml water

RECIPE Alcohol-free Limoncello

  1. Zest the lemons (with either a vegetable peeler or a paring knife). Be careful that you don’t cut in too deeply, as you don’t want the white bit. Put the zest in a large, clean jar and pour over the non-alcoholic vodka. Cover with a tightly fitting lid and leave for a week, shaking the jar each day!
  2. One week later —> Put the sugar into a little pan, add water and then simmer this mixture until the sugar is dissolved and it’s slightly thickened. Allow to cool. Then add the non-alcoholic vodka and lemon peels and leave it for another week, shaking the jar regularly…
  3. Another week later —> It is ready to drink! Strain the alcohol-free Limoncello into a nice bottle, stick a label on that reads “Limoncello 0.0%”, add a few strips of lemon zest and ALL IS DONE

It tastes so good, very lemony with a real bite to it!!! I was a big Limoncello fan when I used to drink and this looks like Limoncello, smells like Limoncello and tastes like Limoncello but… It hasn´t got the anxiety-inducing/headache giving/depression producing alcohol added to it 😉

I hope you liked today´s recipe! And if you´re going to make it, let me know your results below in the comments below?
